Tanzania Daily News (Dar es Salaam)
Arusha — RENOWNED Tanzanian musician Joseph Rebello, founder of The Revolution Band, now known as The Kilimanjaro (Njenje) Band, will be returning to his native land after 25 years in Canada.

He said that he would be in the country during the festive season to entertain his countrymen. “I want to be reunited and perform with former band mates and other great African musicians,” he said in an email text. Rebello was born and raised in Tanga where he started his music career.

Fulfilling his dream of collaborating between North American and African artists, “Twende Afrika Rebelljo” is an ongoing project by Rebello to create a united Cantan Sound.

His personal goal is to also help “Tanga Sober House”. Part of the proceeds raised will go towards the home and addiction awareness taking a harm reduction approach.

Rebello’s band will perform at the Arusha Institute on Christmas Eve and another show is planned at the Dar es Salaam Institute on New Year. According to Rebello’s co-ordinator, Roma Correia, a number of shows are planned.
